There are a selection of these vessels in the West, which apparently came in the marketplace after the Cairo palace of the Fatimid Caliph was looted by his mercenaries in 1062, and have been snapped up by European patrons, principally ending up in church treasuries. From later periods, especially you could check here the hugely wealthy Ottoman and Mughal courts, there are a substantial variety of lavish objects carved in semi-precious stones, with little surface ornament, however inset with jewels. Such objects might have been made in earlier intervals, but few have survived.
